Rochelle railroad days has some fantastic railroad attraction and rides. See the Union Pacific Railroad display, ride the rail motor car, even the kids have their own train to ride. Brand new this year will be a collection of over twenty train horns. You can even try them out; no longer do you have to sit by the side of the tracks waiting for the next train to pump your fist and hear the magnificent call of these iron beasts.
Of course America’s railroad history wouldn’t be complete without the hobo’s, moving across the country on the rails, feeling the winds of freedom blow through their knapsacks. Friday and Saturday, gather round the campfire, munch on smores, and listen to some hobo tales of the rails. Saturday will even have a special Hobo fire ceremony.
Rochelle Railroad Days isn’t just about the trains there is so much more. Historic Mack trucks on display, the Flagg Township museum open each day, even Robert’s Armory WWII Museum will be open for this three day event. There will be music all day every day, hear the likes of Birdman Tim and Baloney Kid.
Cash and prize raffles and will be held every day. For the kids, their own passport book that, when completed, entitles them to a prize all their own.
Let’s not forget about the food, you’ll see the usual favorites like funnel cake, corn dogs, hot dogs and nachos. There will also be gooey and creamy cheese dogs, cheese sticks, and cheese curds. Not to be outdone, there will be juicy and savory tenderloin sandwiches and refreshing lemon shakeups as well.
