Hotel Near Skare Park, Rochelle IL.

Stay at the Holiday Inn Express Hotel while visiting one of the best known secrets in Rochelle: the beautiful Skare park. With over 300 acres to explore Skare park is world unto its self. Get taken away by dreamy landscape, teleport yourself back in time at the Historic Skare Homestead museum. Paddle away on a lazy summer afternoon on the Kyte creek. There are so many things to do and see it would be tough to count; across the river they try but they yell is “FORE.” Perhaps, instead it has to do with Rochelle’s own driving range, all part of Skare park.

Fitness and adventure is available to all who seek it at Skare Park. There are over 10 miles of trails available to hikers (and cross-country skiers in the winter). There is even horse shoes and volleyball.

For the nature lover’s there is more wildlife than you can shake a stick at (please do not shake sticks at the wildlife, it scares them and is frankly rather rude). Part of the park has even been restored the prairie wildlife on the eastern end.

Don’t try to see it all in one day. Stay a few nights at our hotel and keep coming back to Skare Park, who knows what you might find.

Hotel Near Historic Illinois Highways

Your next road trip following the historic Lincoln Highway or US-51 will lead you to Rochelle Il and a bed at the Holiday Inn Express.

You may have heard Rochelle referred to as the Hub City. Is our fair city world-famous for its chrome spinning rims? Not quite. Rochelle is a center of transportation routes, specifically rail and road. Previously this blog discussed Rochelle’s celebration of the rails with Rochelle’s railroad days. Now we celebrate another spoke of the hub city, Rochelle’s historic highways.

The Lincoln Highway was the first transcontinental highway. Dedicated in 1913, the Lincoln highway winds it way from Times Square New York to Lincoln Park San Francisco. In Rochelle, the route is now Highway 38, which coincidentally, the Holliday Inn Rochelle is located just off.

US Highway 51 is one of the first North-South highway going from Hurley, Wisconsin to Laplace, Louisiana. This unique trans-American highway would offer a new perspective on this great nation.

Whichever trip you and your travel companions may take, enjoy your stay at the Holiday Inn Express Rochelle.
