The house was built by Isaac Ellwood, an entrepreneur who developed a patent for barb or bared wire. Ellwood formed the Ellwood Manufacturing Company, which later became Superior Barbed Wire Company which later became know as United States Steel.
Built in 1879 the house now hosts tours. A mahogany paneled dining room, a three story spiral staircase and a large stone fire place are features of the house that would pick the interest of Victorian style building enthusiast. Tours of this home last for one hour and are available year round.
